A New Day... :: Killeen Family Photographer

Sunday, June 28, 2009 | |

A new day and with it, new smiles. This little fellow from yesterday was given another go at being a child model and he performed marvelously! Having so many beautiful images sure does make my job easier. I hope this sneak peek is enough to hold the parents until the entire gallery is ready!

Boy, oh Boy! :: Killeen Family Photographer

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Working with babies is both rewarding and challenging. They are so expressive and so open to the newness of their world. They can also become easily overwhelmed by new experiences. So it was with this handsome little man...the grass, the sky, the birds...all of it had his attention. Then he had his fill. And he said he was done for now. We will be meeting again tomorrow in search of more smiles, but I just had to share these first few. Enjoy!

Cherokee Village Resort :: Lake Whitney

Friday, June 26, 2009 | |

I have an upcoming session out at Cherokee Village Resort near Lake Whitney. As I was unfamiliar with the area, I packed the kids in the car and headed out for a roadtrip. When we arrived, we were greeted by one of the resort's owners who graciously allowed us to wander the property, looking for scenic spots. To our surprise and amusement, the wooded, lakeside area came complete with a peacock and several peahens. The Peacock demonstrated his position of prominence in the pen and we were duly impressed by his magnificent plumage. From there, we hiked down to the fishing dock and found a nice little spot, perfect for skipping stones.

I look forward to my return!

Joy :: Harker Heights Photographer

Tuesday, June 23, 2009 | |

I am not a wedding photographer. But I am a photographer. And weddings are pretty events. So I was a guest with a big camera, truly enjoying just how pretty this wedding was. The ceremony was held in the bride's mother's backyard, underneath a canopy of tree branches, with the evening sun playing upon the altar area. The bride and groom both struggled to say their vows through tears and the entire evening could be captured in a word: joy.

   I know there is a little girl face in here, but she is  just snuggling with my grandpa, as he reads her the comics. Moments like this can't last forever, and I just love this picture.

(As a Friday Fix It Contributor, I cannot be considered for a win, but I can still participate!)

Sunny smiles :: Copperas Cove Photographer

Saturday, June 20, 2009

Babies, even sweet, beautiful ones, have narrow windows of time available for photo shoots. Fortunately, I was able to capture this cheerful little lady's smile and happiness at being part of such a loving family before she decided she had had enough and it was time for a nap.

It was so easy for me to create gorgeous images with this family...hence the rather large sneak peek! I can't wait for you to see the rest. Until then, these will have to do:

Colorful Sprinkles :: Round Rock Children's Photographer

Thursday, June 18, 2009

I have had an affinity for Dunkin' Donuts since my college days. But not for the doughnuts. For the soft, delicious bagels and the supremely good, cannot be replicated at home coffee. I go out of my way to find Dunkin' Donuts. I routinely bemoan the lack of such a delicious eatery in my own town. I say any one of the three thousand nail salons about town could convert to a Dunkin' Donuts and turn a hefty profit. Until that day, I will have to rely on the newly discovered nearest shop, a mere 50 miles from my home, but a hop, skip and a jump from my mom's.

I introduced my daughter to beautifully colored sprinkle doughnuts. As this was her first doughnut, I wanted to photograph it. Good thing I caught what I did, for she banished my camera from the area shortly after she started eating. See, camera clicking knocks sprinkles off the doughnut.

I ♥ Faces Contest, Week 23 :: Sepia Toned

Monday, June 15, 2009 | |

When I first started photography in high school, I recall just itching to learn how to create old school sepia toned images. I loved the romance, the vintage feel, the nostalgia they seemed to evoke. That was back in the film days, complete with a darkroom and chemicals. Now, if I want sepia toning, I merely click a button. But the feelings are the same, if applied to the right image.

Come on over to I Heart Faces and enter your own sepia images and see what all the other amazing photographers are doing. I promise you will not go away without being inspired to grab your camera and try for yourself!

Art :: Austin, TX Photographer

Sunday, June 14, 2009 | |

Art is everywhere in Austin. Art the artist, that is. I was fortunate enough to run into this fellow Navy shipmate while I was down checking out the Austin Symphony's weekly children's program. While we chatted, he sketched an amazing pencil drawing of my stepson and me. His talent is undeniable and his expressive face proved as rich a subject matter as I anticipated.

Here is Art.

Five Minutes :: Harker Heights Children's Photographer

With a nearly three year old child, five minutes is all you have. Five minutes is all you need. Grab your camera, grab your child and head outside to some small patches of shade and start shooting!
